Three people charged in connection with the murder of an infant have been committed for trial at the Old Bailey.
Tracey Connolly, 25, of Penshurst Road, Tottenham, north London, was charged with the murder of her 17-month-old son, Peter, and with allowing and causing the death of a child under 16. Her partner Steven Barker, 31, also of Penhurst Road, Tottenham, was also charged with murder and allowing and causing the death of a child under 16.
Barker’s brother Jason Owen, 35, of Wittersham Road, Bromley, was charged with allowing and causing the death of a child under 16.
All three were remanded in custody at Highgate Magistrates’ Court in north London to appear at the Old Bailey on November 23.
Peter was pronounced dead at North Middlesex Hospital, north London, on August 3.

We will never understand how Peter’s ‘mother’ could have allowed him to die just to save her own relationship with that vile monster. I just wonder whether in her sick mind she justified it to herself as wanting to expose the incompetence of social services and the police (and got a kick from literally being in control of their failure as they pretty much always believed her version of events) as some kind of discusting ‘pay back’ for the way they had apparently let her down as an at-risk child herself. I agree with everyone here who say that all the family are responsible in their own way for what happened to this defenceless child. I think Baby Peter’s biological father lied when he said he’d seen his son the weekend before, if it were true surely he would have seen the marks, he would have seen that his child couldn’t walk, surely he would have done something instead of taking him back to his mother like he said. I would prefer him to admit that he was a dead-beat dad. We would forgive him for that. I wonder what Fathers 4 Justice have to say about this case ?

I, (much like thousands of others) have been appalled by the treatment of Baby P, and feel strongly that these ‘people’ should at the very least be made accountable for there actions. (in my case naming and shaming them).
The comments that have been posted here in response to this and other articles, I have published (like yours) as I believe people have a right to a freedom of speech.
It is, however questionable, that you have felt compelled to actively seek out articles like this, and then attempt to defend the family members (on what appears to be a personal level)?
Furthermore, I do not fully understand how this post or the comments within it, in any way relate to your fragile IQ level?

Well, when you are living with someone and they commit a crime, you are responsible. Though I’m a lawyer, most non-lawyers know this. It’s not clear whether or not the person is a relative or just a hoax. The facts were presented in court and what the person wrote/said were not presented in court. 2) This is an open forum and people can write what they want. You attacked people with your words and stating that people have low intelligence levels. It’s unfortunate that your anger is being directed towards the bloggers and not towards Tracy, Steven and Jason.

William Straw: Denied the charge of indecent assault
The brother of Home Secretary Jack Straw has been found guilty of an indecent assault on a 16-year-old girl.
William Straw, 47, of Bramcote in Nottingham, will be placed on the sex offenders’ register for the next five years.
Straw had denied the charge at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

But stipendiary magistrate Peter Nettle found him guilty of assaulting the girl at her home in April and fined him £750 and £275 costs.
Giving evidence Straw said he agreed with the majority of what the girl said had happened, but he denied ever actually touching her.
The father-of-two said he had been on his own, feeling low and was reaching out to a friendly face.
The court heard how Straw, an Open University administrator, bumped into the girl, who was a friend of the family, while she was out shopping on 19 April.
He asked her to come to his home to see his new dog.
‘I had not asked him in’
The girl refused, saying she had GCSE revision to do.
But Straw rang her at home later and repeated his offer.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court Straw then rode his bike around to her house.
Straw, a father-of-two, then invited himself into the girl’s house, the court was told.
“He came in to the kitchen and asked if I was okay,” the girl told the court.
“I had not asked him to come in, I felt worried and nervous but I offered him a cup of tea because he is a friend of the family.”
She said Straw, who is married but separated, started talking to her and touched her on the stomach, below the crop top she was wearing.
‘Family friend’
The girl said Straw then asked if he could have a look at her bedroom.
“I started to get more worried but he was a family friend so I said yes,” she told the court.
She said Straw sat on her bed and commented on how soft it was.
When they went to leave the room, the girl said Straw put his hands on her hips.
“He started rubbing my hips and staring at my breasts. I told him he was scaring me and he seemed to snap out of a trance,” she told the court.
The girl said Straw then apologised and went back downstairs and left a short time afterwards.
Anti-depressants
In Straw’s account, he said he had gone to the house wanting “someone to talk to”.
He said: “On the stairs I stopped and turned and put my hands out to her – I’m not quite sure why I did it, and when she said she was scared that’s when I realised it was a mistake for me, a 47-year-old man, to be alone with her in her home.”
The court heard Straw had been referred a psychiatrist a month before the incident and was prescribed anti-depressants.
The magistrate said that while he found both credible witnesses, the version of events given by the girl seemed to hold more truth.

I have read a letter that she sent to the judge when she realised what she had done. It was a manipulative, grovelling and very well put together letter. There was not one mistake along with nice, neat handwriting. This was the letter of a woman who was not stupid! She just didn’t give a rat’s arse about her son – end of story.
If you ask me, it was entirely her fault. She should have gotten her baby out of there, the very first time anything ever happened to that baby. She should have protected her boy. She should rot in hell!!!

Reading these comments makes me a little worried about people generally. Yes, I hate Baby P’s parents too, but I would be quite satisfied with their being stuck in prison with people who would doubtless love to knock them about a bit. Our justice system is soft, in our prisons they are allowed cushy things such as tv’s, some innocent people can’t even afford a television and they have made no crime.
We need harder punishments for these swines, We need the death sentence back. Our justice system as it stands today is a joke.
How could this disgusting human (And I use the term human very loosly in this case), Allow her child to suffer like this? As a mother myself, I am absoloutly beside myself feeling anger and sadness for that poor little boy who never had a chance to live like he should have.
I’m a young single mother (aged 21), I have a daughter with health issues (heart problems,poor weight gain and profound deafness) For this reason I have to deal with social workers watching my every move as if I am a child abuser, I would never harm my daughter in any way shape or form, So why do I have to feel victimised by social services?
Shouldn’t they be out saving children like baby Peter? shouldn’t they be rescuing children who are being abused? Just think of all the children that could be saved from the same fate as little Peter if only social services spent less time harrasing people like me and more time investigating bastards like that?

Just think of all the children that could be saved from the same fate as little Peter if only social services spent less time harrasing people like me and more time investigating bastards like that?

I totally understand the anger and want for justices!
This case has totally changed my life. At first I was upset then the more I read and then the details from the 15 year old girlfriend of Jason Owens came out and then I lost it I couldn’t eat or sleep and I had pure rage and disgust and sorrow. I cried all the time looking at my 2 year old boy. I felt guilty for complaining about my minor problems in my life, when there are beautiful defenseless little babies being tortured to death!
I asked God why am I so blessed? Why can you hear my prayers and not that of these poor babies that are confused and frightened all the time!(he does)
One of the many answers I have gotten is that those monsters that hurt him are just that MONSTERS!! They came from MONSTERS too!!(that have free will that effected Baby Peter)
I have been given blessings so that I may be able to do something with those blessings, so we as people that have blessings need to be good stewards of the gifts God has granted us.
Now saying that I am a survivor of child abuse (not torture) I was molested at 2 and beaten all my life and neglected as a baby. I survived! Thank the Lord.
The lord had mercy on Baby Peter and let him go to rest in peace forever in the arms of his true Father and get all the cuddles he needs.
So now I figure if we aren’t part of the solution we are part of the problem, it is wonderful that people care enough to write about it talk about their anger and sorrows and have genuine feels for baby Peter. That is the first step, then maybe the next step could be Google child abuse prevention in your area and maybe volunteer or just research the signs of child abuse (baby Peter were obvious but people ignored them!)and bring more awareness to this whatch out and report it!!
Some people just need the tools to be better parents and some people (Tracey)just cannot be parents. But hundreds of children in the world DIE a day at the hand of their caregivers and we HAVE to do something. making people more accountable,harsher punishments, more prevention! etc.. Children are humans not objects they are not owned they are borrowed from God. So I am now practicing what I am preaching here!
I cannot sleep at night if I don’t do something maybe I can just save one……:(

Regaurdless put in jail or not jail people dont like when you do that kind of shit they wont last long in there and if they do get out someone will kill them i dont know how you can do that to anyone its SICK they should pay jail is not enough!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh, Shelly Ulman, I echo your sentiments exactly. I too have been traumatised, shocked to the core, deeply upset and heart-broken by the whole tragic story. I can’t describe in words what I think of Tracey Connolley, Steven Barker and Jason Owen. I am mortified and extremely hurt that this little boy was ignored by everyone. He must have endured nothing but misery and pain.
I bet that these nonces have been segregated in prison for their own safety! I only hope and prey that somehow, they get what’s coming to them. However, I don’t want them to die – I want them to stay alive and endure all the pain and suffering that they inflicted on Baby Peter forever and ever amen. If they are released with new identities, then I also hope that there are people intelligent enough to work out who they are, where they have gone and make their lives a misery!! What disgusting, sick b@stards!
I hope that the angels are cuddling and caring for little angel Baby Peter, and that in death he has the peace that he never received in life! RIP sweet prince, you were a precious baby who’s life was stolen in the most cruel manner. May your soul rest in peace and may you receive eternal happiness in heaven. I love you xxx
